River Vale is located on just over four square miles in the northeast section of Bergen County. With rural character as its main attraction, River Vale offers mostly single family homes with styles ranging from Ranch to Tudor and Colonial. Also in town is a 150 unit condominium complex.

River Vale has two houses of worship, a public library offering lectures and photo exhibits throughout the year and. recreational facilities which include two playgrounds, six athletic fields, one public tennis court, two golf courses (one public, one private) and two private swimming pools.

River Vale offers an excellent school system comprised of two elementary schools (the Roberge School and the Woodside School) and one middle school (Holdrum School). High school students attend Pascack Valley Regional High School in Hillsdale.
