Tucked neatly in the fringe of the Ramapo Mountains is
the 6.7 square mile,
lovely, tree-lined community of Wyckoff. Expansive lawns,
well-appointed homes and a series of meandering brooks
characterize this "countrified community." Centrally
located within Franklin, Wyckoff and Godwin Avenues,
is the Triangle, a 10-block business district offering
service, ample parking space and a diversity of convenience
from a large post office to antique and specialty shops.
Several bus companies offer commuter service from Wyckoff
to Port Authority in Manhattan (approximately 25 miles
away) and to other destinations in New York State. New
Jersey Transit train stations are located in nearby communities.
Among 28 social and service organizations are three
volunteer fire companies, a volunteer ambulance corps,
Nursing Service, Lions Club, Woman's Club, Historical
Society, Senior Citizens Club, and a Newcomer's Club.
The Bergen County Wildlife Center, the Wyckoff Family
YMCA, the James A. McFaul Environmental Center as well
as several ball fields and eight tennis courts (Memorial
Field), all provide for the diverse recreation and
leisure needs of residents.
More than 2,000 students attend Wyckoff's four elementary
schools and one
middle school. High school students attend Ramapo Regional
High School (Franklin Lakes). Private schools in Wyckoff
include St. Elizabeth Interparochial School and Eastern
Christian School.
